Resident Kelly Harvey overheard McAdow exclaim while on the veranda of the hotel, "I've found the place to spend the rest of my days!." And so he did, bringing his vast fortune to our little frontier town. Learn more about the man who had a major impact on Punta Gorda. Don't Miss out.         The Historic Punta Gorda Army Airfield Mural is Coming Back     In 2002, the Mural Society painted our 17th mural capturing the Historic Punta Gorda Army Airfield (PGAAF) at the Punta Gorda Airport. The mural was lost in 2004 with Hurricane Charley. Here are 2 photos of the original mural.   A Little History:  The Army Airfield was constructed in 1943 and was used as a training facility for Army Air Corp pilots receiving instruction in flying mostly P-40 and later P-51
